SilverTree Seniors and the Chesapeake Task Force on Aging Adopt a Community Shopping Event at Kemet House

Oh my!  Shopping bags and hearts were full this Saturday, when SilverTree Seniors, along with the Chesapeake Task Force on Aging, co-hosted a Holiday Shopping Event at Kemet House, an affordable, older adult (62+) community, located in Chesapeake.  Through the donations STS has received from our "Christmas in July" and "Warm Hearts & Hands" Drives, the residents of Kemet House were able to "shop" from a large variety of items ranging from toiletries and necessities to games and puzzle books, and everything in between!   Each resident was provided with a beautiful handmade holiday card, crafted with love by Girl Scout Troop 4075.  The cards were stuffed full of "fun money", allowing each resident to shop from five different categories of items, while enjoying donuts and coffee, donated by WaWa.  Reusable shopping bags were  provided by The Supply Room.  The City of Chesapeake's Human Services , Community Programs Division brought bags of swag and city resources for the residents.

There were laughs, a few tears, and LOTS of love shared by all.

We wanted to take the time to thank our Community Partners and friends of SilverTree Seniors who made this all possible.  As you may know, this is our inaugural year and we are overjoyed at the support we have received from so many sharing our vision and mission of letting Seniors know they are NOT forgotten.

A few companies and organizations we'd like to give a shout out to...The YMCA of South Hampton Roads, Windy City Pizza, MyStorage, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Towne Realty's Chesapeake Office, Lawrence Pharmacy, and the Niners Seniors Club of Chesapeake.

Thank you to our volunteers from the Chesapeake Task Force on Aging!

We're busy working on our next project.  Stay tuned for details!
